The Walther PDP (Performance Duty Pistol) is designed as an Optic-Ready platform specifically for red dot sights. In the 4.5-inch configuration, it combines leading ergonomics with a longer sight line, making it ideal for professional use, personal protection, and discreet carrying. The vertical carrying system (designed in Berlin) keeps the weapon close to the body, allowing for concealed carry under a jacket, blazer, or coat.

Carrying System & Comfort

The foundation is a rear leather back distributor (spider) that evenly distributes the weight of the pistol and spare magazine over both shoulders. Wide, adjustable leather straps prevent pressure points and keep the system stable even during long drives or operations. The vertical hanging position follows the body line, does not press into the seat, and remains accessible at all times. The strap system can be precisely adjusted to the body using flat Chicago screws (screw rivets) – non-slip, balanced, and quiet.

Optic-Ready Holster Body

The holster body, made from approximately 3.2 mm thick cowhide leather, is wet-molded to precisely fit the contours of the PDP 4.5-inch. A generous, cleanly deburred optic cutout allows the use of common red dot sights (e.g., Holosun, Trijicon RMR/SRO, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, Aimpoint Acro) without contact when drawing or holstering. Side leather flaps protect the optics from bumps and scratches while worn, while the slide path remains free.

Retention, Security & Muzzle Design

Passive retention is achieved through form-fitting wet molding – the PDP sits securely without play or rattle. An ergonomically positioned thumb break serves as active security, which can be intuitively released with the thumb or index finger during the grip build-up. The open muzzle design prevents dirt/water accumulation and allows room for threaded barrels or compensators.

Craftsmanship

• Heat water in a kettle and briefly expose the steam to the inside of the holster (do not soak).
• Wrap the unloaded pistol thinly in foil/plastic bag.
• Firmly insert the pistol; draw/holster cleanly several times.
• Allow to cool and dry completely at room temperature with the weapon inserted. This process improves retention and draw comfort permanently.
